Budweiser MLB Beer Cans

Anheuser-Busch has received label approval for its first batch of Major League Baseball-licensed Budweiser cans for the 2012 season.

Approvals came through for the New York Yankees, the New York Mets, the San Diego Padres and the Kansas City Royals, the host of the 2012 All-Star Game. The Mets will be celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2012.
Anheuser-Busch is the official sponsor of Major League Baseball and all but a few teams though its relationship with the league is rocky at best. The two sides settled differences and extended AB sponsorship with a new multi-year contract in December.
Last month, MillerCoors received approvals for Miller Lite aluminum pints for a number of teams with a similar baseball seam design on the labels. While those labels bear statements of official sponsorship, the Budweiser labels do not.

Designed by Gidea Group Pink Lady is a “pink ribbon” (international symbol of hope and awareness in the fight against breast cancer) product created by KMC Chain (who has the largest worldwide market share for bicycle chains). It was meant to be a gift box where you give not only a great bike chain, but also to a great cause. From these design goals, KMC asked us to come up with a packaging concept.

Our solution turned out to be a very simple one, how about using the “product” to illustrate the pink ribbon “theme” of this product, presenting the two elements in one simple and broad visual stroke.

Not only did users responded favorably to this design, Pink Lady has won international acclaim at design awards, winning the 2011 iF Packaging Award, 2011 Red-Dot Award, 2011 Pentawards GOLD award.

Nike Vapor

James Owen Design and Nike teamed up to create fresh package design and eye wear cases for the Nike Vapor Strobe Eye wear product. We love the continuity of the design from the product design, the case, and the packaging design, the used of the green and black on every element (even a tiny hint of it on the case).

“Nike Vapor Strobe Packaging – Innovative eye wear technology requires innovative package design. The Nike Vapor Strobe Eyewear improves athletic performance by enhancing visual skills such as focus, balance, peripheral vision, and reaction times by utilizing “strobing” or flashing LCD lens technology. That core functional benefit is communicated as soon as the user opens the box. Die-cut holes in the box top alternately hide and reveal, or “strobe” the Sparq green rectangles, as the lid is pulled up to uncover the eyewear case and accessories inside.

Puma ECO ShoeBox

This new packaging for PUMA, which will hit stores in late 2011, was designed in collaboration with Fuseproject, a firm led by Yves Béhar. PUMA, a leader in sportswear, shoes and products, they looked to create a game changing packaging system that would greatly reduce their footprint and build on their initiatives toward cleaner, greener, and safer practices contributing to a better world around us.

Due to using fewer materials – 8,500 fewer tons of paper, to be specific – and the new packaging’s lighter weight, Puma expects to cut carbon dioxide emissions by 10,000 tons per year and water, energy and diesel use by 60 percent. That works out to 1 million liters of water, 20 million megajoules of electricity, 1 million liters of fuel oil and 500,000 liters of diesel.
