Given the opportunity to be a contributor to cr8id.com, I’ve developed a stronger urge to keep an eye out for clean, crisp and functional packaging. Though I haven’t been able to narrow my first post down to a single item, I thought I would take a chance to post a small handful of images I found online. Packaging has power, huge power over what we buy – I consider packaging fashion for it’s product – what the product is wearing can determine what it is and what it does. Because of this, it creates a ‘brand promise’ and if the ‘promise’ is done right, we buy into it. But now, along with the ‘brand promise’ there is an environmental impact that we have to be aware of. Is it over packed? Is it recyclable? Can that package be reused? This is something us designers now have to be aware of – time will only tell though if these ideologies will work hand in hand. Hopefully over the next few years, we’ll see a unique melding of these two thoughts and a whole new world of packaging will emerge. Until then though, we’ll keep our eyes out for new designs and packaging to catch our eyes. I look forward to future posts and the ever-developing cr8id.com site.
